A Spotty History
Fellow felines and humans alike, I, Lady Spottica Aurelia, (aka Spotty), doth address thee with great humility, from my abode in the fair City of Kansas. I reside with my human caregiver, Janetticatha (familiarly known as Jan), and two other beasts, Biscuit and Charlie (Sir Charles). I confess to being of a reserved nature, and find it difficult to speak of myself, yet I shall endeavour to do so. As the eldest and wisest among them, I humbly consider myself the grande dame of the household, thus commanding the utmost respect from all. Whilst our Jan, a provident soul, sees to our welfare with kindness and provides us with most gratifying comestibles, Biscuit, a feline ten years my junior, can be a rather vexatious individual. Charlie, on the other paw, is tolerable enough, though we do not engage in much discourse.
In the year 2010, when I was but a young lass of one, I was brought to my new forever home. Upon my arrival, my heart was beset with trepidation, causing me to retreat under the sofa’s shadows. For nearly a full lunar cycle, I was unseen by any in the household. My prior human had spoken highly of my sociability, but, after being unwillingly rehomed, I was distrustful of humans and refused to establish any bonds.
Fortuitously, another feline named Mel shared this homestead, and he proved to be a paragon of compassion and kindness. His striking appearance was much like my own in coloration, but his fur was long and resplendent, with a white mane resembling an Elizabethan collar. With time, I grew to cherish Mel and we would cuddle together, even in cramped quarters. Together, we disregarded spatial limitations, finding solace in shared snuggles within the confines of a space meant for a solitary cat.
Jan decided to retain the appellation, Spotty, that my former mistress bestowed upon me. (Lady Spottica Aurelia is of my own creation.) Though my markings are not replete with spots, I have a distinct white dash in the center of my back that serves as my signature marking. Jan contemplated changing my name to Dash as a result, for when strangers visited I would often flee and hide. My hiding skills were formidable, as I created a hammock under the sofa and bed by tearing holes in the underlining. It is a comfortable and secure hideaway, indeed.
Esteemed readers, I humbly express my gratitude for thy attentiveness and kindly invite you to peruse subsequent entries as they become available.
Both Spotty and Biscuit are ADORABLE!
